I am not gonna lie: I am good with directions, getting from point A to point B quickly and efficiently. I always leave early and leave myself time for the unexpected. Very seldom do I find myself lost. But on this particular day getting to my session with this little family was… interesting.
I got so lost. I honestly felt like I was driving in places where I truly should not have been. Eventually I had to send Erin a text that I was totally lost… and even after getting directions again from her, I had to ask someone for help. Then after getting help and more directions and thinking I might have figured it out, nope. Made a wrong turn…AGAIN! After all of the directions, wrong turns, and confusion I got flagged down. I successfully got to the Sneyds cottage safe and sound. Put it this way: in order to reach my destination, I had to somewhat drive onto a cart path at the Ridge at Manitou.
Once I arrived we jumped right into our session, and I loved everything that we attained. This little family was adorable and their little boy, was delicious. Most family sessions, don’t have any surprises, or unexpected things happen, but on this occasion it wasn’t just family photos. It was a huge epic surprise of… a wedding! Originally Erin was not going to have any pictures, as they weren’t making a big deal out of it, but with talking to some of her family and myself, the decision to have a few photos was made. I am so glad I got to be a part of this entire day for them and I am happy to introduce you to The Sneyds!

Happy Thursday!

Between Jennifer and Aaron they have a beautiful story. They have travelled, loved, laughed, and shared so many things throughout their lives together before having children. The things they have accomplished and experienced together are probably more than what many long married couples, will ever get the chance to do, or face in a lifetime. There is so much more that I could probably write about when it comes to Jennifer and Aaron as a couple, but, it’s not just them anymore….

It’s Jennifer, Aaron, and Georgia.

Sweet, beautiful, tiny, Georgia.
I absolutely love that I was able to capture these sweet moments for Jennifer and Aaron. These moments are so special, and it really is such a short window of time, that goes by so fast.

Jennifer and Aaron, thank you for letting me into your lives and home for the afternoon. I am honoured to have met Georgia, and to capture her first tiny moments for you.

With the addition of any new family member, things can sometimes be a little hectic, or blissful. No matter the case, there is always a certain “fog” that any mom can chalk up those first few weeks and moments to. It’s called the newborn fog. It’s somewhat of a haze, or sleepwalking state that somehow, some way, any mother just seems to get through each day, not really remembering certain aspects or moments.
Then in an instance that new addition to the family, is suddenly 3 months old, and possibly rolling over and into a good routine, and suddenly the question arises: “Where did the last 3 months go?”.
That’s where these images will help to fill in those moments of “huh?”
As a family, you can look back and think, and remember how you were feeling, or where you were that day, or how little the new addition slept. You can revel in those emotions, and that feeling that may come rushing back.

I love doing these Newborn sessions. They are different than what I have done in the past, but this is more suited to where I am in my career, and I find that families can enjoy these session more than the typical posed sessions I have shot in the past. I am in love with this family, and their beautiful home.
Thank you Buchan Family for letting me capture these moments for you!

Happy Wednesday!

Well, how do you like the new look?!

I know I have been MIA this last year or so, but my family has kept me quite busy. 2014 had many ups and downs for me personally, and it really was a year that tested every single one of my family members.

Lowest point in the year was probably the passing of my father in November. Even just typing those simple words out stops me in my tracks, and makes me think of him. And ironically, with being a photographer, looking at any pictures of him is still hard for me, and others.

But with 2014 ending on a sad note, we were able to look to 2015 with hope and happiness as we welcomed our third child on January 21st! Boden James Jacklin joined our family and we are so happy to have a little boy!

I have yet to take pictures of our sweet little man, but I am definitely hoping to do that soon. And with any luck his sisters will be happy to join in for a few pictures as well.

Now, back to the site and blog! This has been in the works for quite some time. I decided to work with Dawn Alderman and she was amazing. I knew, with seeing all of her past work, that I would be more than happy with the outcome, and she truly made the whole process very easy. I highly recommend Dawn to anyone who is looking for some custom design services. She is so lovely, and I thank her for everything she did.

So take a look around, and share away with others!
Happy Friday!

PIN THIS

A few weeks ago, I had Dawson and his mom come through the studio to have his newborn pictures done. I have said it many times before how I love doing Newborn sessions. They are so peaceful, and I love being able to capture these tiny moments for the parents.
I was able to use some new backdrops, and props/outfits with Dawson, and his mom  brought in some adorable things that a friend had knitted for her.
Dawson did awesome through his session, and I hope you enjoy!

Happy Friday!
